Coaches represent Intensity Hoops on and off the court. This Code sets the standard every coach agrees to as a condition of coaching in our program, alongside our Screening & Background Check Policy and Child Safeguarding Policy.
1. Athlete Safety First
- Follow the Child Safeguarding Policy in full — supervision standards, one-on-one contact rules, and electronic communication rules are not optional.
- Report any suspected abuse or neglect as required by law, and report any safety concern to Intensity Hoops directly.
- Follow proper concussion and injury protocols — when in doubt, sit the athlete out.
2. Coaching Standard
- Coach with honesty. Give athletes real, direct feedback — that's the standard Intensity Hoops is built on — delivered constructively, never as personal criticism.
- Make team and playing time decisions based on merit, effort, and team need, applied consistently.
- Treat every athlete with respect regardless of skill level, playing time, or role on the team.
3. Conduct at Games & Practices
- No abusive language directed at athletes, officials, opposing coaches, or parents.
- Represent Intensity Hoops professionally to officials, opposing teams, and facility staff.
- Model the standard we ask of athletes — respect for the game, opponents, and officials.
4. Communication
- Communicate with parents through official channels, and route concerns raised by a parent through our Concern or Dispute Resolution Policy where appropriate.
- Follow our Digital Communications Media Policy for all athlete and parent communication.
5. Screening
Every coach must have a current Vulnerable Sector Check on file before working with athletes, per our Screening & Background Check Policy, and must disclose any relevant charge that arises during their time coaching.
Consequences
A breach of this Code may result in a warning, additional supervision requirements, suspension pending review, or removal from a coaching role, depending on severity — independent of any separate legal process that may apply.
