Intensity Hoops teams travel regularly for competition. This policy sets expectations for athletes, families, and coaches around travel activities.
1. Supervision
All travel activities are supervised under "two-deep leadership" — at least two screened adults present at all times — consistent with our Child Safeguarding Policy. Coaches do not supervise athletes alone overnight.
2. Rooming
Athletes room with teammates of the same gender and a similar age, as assigned by the coaching staff. Rooming assignments change every tournament. Each room has a designated room captain who acts as the spokesperson and is responsible for the room's schedule and roommate conduct. Room captains rotate each trip.
3. Costs
Travel costs (accommodation, transportation, tournament fees) are communicated in advance of each trip and are separate from regular program fees unless stated otherwise.
4. Code of Conduct While Traveling
Our Athlete's Code of Conduct and Parent's Code of Conduct apply fully while traveling, including at hotels, restaurants, and any team activity outside of game time. Curfews and check-in times set by the coaching staff are mandatory. To ensure athletes get proper rest, phones and other digital devices are collected and kept outside players' rooms after curfew. In an emergency, parents may contact the coaching staff outside of regular hours to reach their child.
5. Communication
Parents receive a travel itinerary in advance, including accommodation details and a coach contact number for the duration of the trip.
6. Emergency Medical Consent
Every traveling athlete must have a current Emergency Medical Consent form on file before departure. Coaches carry copies during travel.
7. Athlete Conduct & Consequences
Intensity Hoops travels as a team and holds itself accountable as a team — all for one, and one for all. Any athlete who breaks the law or seriously breaches team rules while traveling may cause the entire team to withdraw from the event and return home early. Examples include shoplifting, destruction of property, or other serious offenses. Families acknowledge that travel costs are non-refundable in these circumstances. These decisions are at the coaching staff's discretion, following the process set out in our Athlete's Code of Conduct. Lesser breaches are addressed through the graduated consequences described in that same policy.
